Shon J. Eckert

Portrait of Shon Eckert

Shon was born in Washington, D.C., and left the East Coast with his family as a young boy to live in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. After traveling extensively over the first 20 years of his life, Shon settled in Utah with his wife and four children.

Shon studied foreign languages early in his career and later parlayed his passion for personal finance into a career in financial planning at DMBA. He is an avid believer in behavioral economics and is on a mission to make it easy for families to save—so they can in turn can serve and bless others’ lives.

He enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and conducting behavioral finance experiments with his family. Each of his children are taught to save at least half their paychecks and invest in their favorite stocks beginning with their very first job. Shon’s family actively volunteers in the local Latino community and they adhere to a “Spanish-only” rule at home where Shon strives to teach his children the same values of learning foreign languages and cultures that blessed his life as a young boy.
